trip to Canada June 29, 2011

At eight o’clock this morning, Mom, Judy, and I had breakfast. In the next two hours, I cleaned and organized my room. At eleven o’clock, the four of us had a lunch of leftover soup. Then we continued packing, and Mom was in a nervous mood. At about twelve o’clock, the taxi came and we left for Kaohsiung Airport.

At Kaohsiung Airport, I accidentally sat on some unidentified liquid, which I suspected to be urine. Therefore, I had to change into my mom’s pants (mine were checked-in already) and her underwear as well, and the two of us washed by clothes. Thankfully, the restroom had a very powerful hand drier, so in an hour, I was back in my own clothes. Then the four of us went on the airplane and flew to Hong Kong.

At Hong Kong, Judy and I were left to our own devices while Mom and Dad had dinner in the VIP room. Judy kept saying that she was hungry, although we had a second lunch on the plane. It was 三杯雞, and it was very delicious. But because Judy said she was hungry, we went to hunt for food. There weren’t many choices; we only saw a seafood restaurant, a café, and a beef noodles restaurant. We chose the last option, and Judy had beef noodles while I had pork spring rolls. The spring rolls were very delicious, but the beef noodles were just typical noodles. The meal cost 110 人民幣, which is over 500 NT dollars. At 6:20, Judy and I and our parents met at Gate 31 and we boarded our plane.

On the plane, we had another dinner. I ate the last chicken, and Mom ate beef. It wasn’t bad, but the vegetables on the side made Dad sick. I watched Chicken Run, which is a cartoon I watched twice in Boston. It doesn’t seem to be as scary as it was seven years ago. Then I watched a movie called Never Let Me Go, which was very confusing.

At midnight, we were given instant noodles and sandwiches. The latter are now in the refrigerator in our hotel, but the instant noodles were devoured instantly because we were feeling very cold. Then I had a hard time falling asleep because I did not know where to put my head. After much struggle and dozing off now and then, we had breakfast. Mom had porridge, and I had an omelet. They were both delicious, but I did not eat much, for in the past 21 hours, I had seven meals.

Finally, we arrived at Vancouver, Canada, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. We went to our hotel, Days Inn. There were two beds, with four pillows on each.
